Tattoo Aftercare

Your tattoo journey doesn't end once you leave our studio. Proper aftercare is essential for your tattoo to heal well. Please follow this aftercare guide carefully to ensure your tattoo heals correctly and maintains its vibrancy.

Day One: After Your Tattoo

  • Derma Plaster: We apply a breathable derma plaster to protect your tattoo. This plaster is designed to stay intact for five days. If it lifts or gets damaged, exposing any part of the tattoo, remove it immediately.
  • Plasma Buildup: Don’t be alarmed if you notice a buildup of liquid under the plaster. This is just plasma, a normal part of the healing process. Avoid popping or attempting to empty this.

After 5 Days: Removing the Plaster

  1. Gently Remove the Plaster: Carefully peel off the derma plaster.
  2. First Wash:
    • Use your clean hand and mild, unscented soap.
    • Wash your tattoo gently in a circular motion.
    • Your tattoo may feel slimy during this first wash; this is normal.
    • Avoid scrubbing or using any cloths or sponges.
    • Rinse thoroughly and pat dry with a clean towel.
  3. Air Dry: Let your tattoo air dry for a few hours.

Continued Care: Weeks 1-3

  • Apply Cream: After the tattoo has air-dried, apply an unscented, water-based cream, such as E45 cream. Continue this application for 2-3 weeks to promote healing.
  • Avoid Submersion: For at least a week and a half after getting your tattoo:
    • Avoid submerging it in water for long periods.
    • It can get wet, but should not be soaked.
    • Refrain from swimming or exposing your tattoo to potentially dirty water.
  • Protect from Dirt: Your tattoo is essentially an open wound. Avoid contact with dirty objects like gym equipment or gardening tools.

Normal Healing Process

  • Itching and Scabbing: Itching and scabbing are normal parts of the healing process. Don’t pick at or scratch the scabs, as this could damage your tattoo and hinder healing. Scabs may be the same color as the tattoo ink, but this doesn’t mean the ink is falling out.
  • Rash Concerns: If you notice any rash forming, particularly around the edges of the derma plaster, please contact us immediately for advice.

By following these aftercare instructions, you can help ensure a smooth healing process for your tattoo. Should you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to help you every step of the way.
